With just a few steps, you can put this salad together in a matter of minutes. Bring it to share at your next gathering with friends and family and they will be sure to thank you. Homemade salads are one of the best gifts to offer yourself and your loved ones!
I could not love salads more than I do. I pretty much eat a salad every day thanks in part to the warmer climate I live in. I sometimes eat multiple salads at different meals in a single day. Not always as the whole meal, but for part of a meal. That aside, I believe that enjoying salads is one of the best ways to get in loads of high energy and tons of nutrition!
The key to eating salads is to rotate your ingredients, especially your greens. By incorporating a wide variety of leafy greens into your diet, you’re more likely to ensure you’re covering all your bases in terms of vitamins and minerals. You don’t necessarily need to rotate every single day, either. You can eat this Tropical Watercress Citrus Salad a few times until you get through all your ingredients. Then switch to another leafy green veggie for your next salad. Just remember that there is no reason to get stuck in a rut when it comes to making salads. With so many nutrient-rich veggies to choose from, you can literally spend your entire life enjoying new creations!
Watercress: A High Energy Food
One of the most powerful and beneficial foods that you can consume Beauties is watercress. Like other sprouts, watercress is a super high energy food. Think of it like this. When watercress seeds become sprouts, they transition from a dormant state to actual living plants. At this point, the nutrition of those seeds multiplies, at some times up to 1000%! Their availability of minerals and vitamins dramatically increases during the sprouting phase. This is why all variations of sprouts are true superfoods! And that is why it is the star ingredient in my Tropical Watercress Citrus Salad recipe.
Crazy enough, watercress was once thought to be just a simple pesky little weed. That is until it became popular in the 17th century for its magical cleansing properties. As with other vegetables in the Brassicaceae family, watercress is a crucifer vegetable. Cruciferous vegetables can reduce inflammation in our bodies by activating detoxification enzymes. They can also clear free radicals from our systems while boosting immune functions in our bodies. When our bodies are free of inflammation and our immune function is thriving, our beauty can shine as it is meant to. And we all deserve to glow!
One thing that is special about my Tropical Watercress Citrus Salad recipe is its abundant source of vitamin K. Just one cup of watercress alone contains over 100% of your daily vitamin K needs. And a quick reminder, we want vitamin K in our diets to help us heal our skin and strengthen our bones. These are some powerful little weeds if you ask me. :)
Another one of my favorite ways to cleanse my body on a deeper level is by regularly taking Feel Good Detoxy 2.0. It gives your body what it needs to function best: oxygen. This special compound delivers oxygen through your digestive system to help flush out toxins. Keeping the body clean and reducing waste and toxicity is one of the keys to anti-aging, leaving you with more energy, better-looking skin, and aids in maintaining weight. Doesn’t that feel good?
Bring Sprouts Into Your Life
I really believe that sprouts, like watercress, are some of the most nourishing foods on the market. Yes, they are small little gems yet they heal the body in super-powerful ways. Cost-wise they are by far the most comprehensive nourishment for less money.
If you aren’t interested in purchasing your watercress, you can also try growing your own sprouts in your kitchen. A little gardening can do wonders for the mind. Plus, this way you can have easy access to these fresh gems all the time. It’s as simple as adding a few tablespoons of water to a jar with your seeds in it in the morning. Covering the sprouts during the day and draining the water in the evening. Yes, its that easy!
Use your sprouts in my Tropical Watercress Citrus Salad recipe, in your veggie wraps, on top of lentil soup or even in smoothies. An important thing to note is that much of the nutritive value of sprouts is lost when they are heated. While other veggies can be enjoyed cooked, sprouts are delicate little guys that should always be added to your smoothie or meals in their raw form. This will guarantee that they have the most impact.
Avocado: Ideal Source of Beauty Fat
The tropical avocado is the perfect addition to this Tropical Watercress Citrus Salad. With it’s a creamy texture and beautifying oils, I just love the way it tastes with greens and other fruits. Plus, it really helps provide that long-burning fuel many salads are lacking. If you are like most people, you want to enjoy a salad that is not only filled with good energy sources but is also satisfying. This Watercress Tropical Citrus Salad offers the extra energy we all can use throughout the day.
One of the reasons why avocados are an ideal source of beauty fat is because they contain water. This actually makes them an easy source of fat to digest. Though you want to be mindful of what you eat avocado with. For example, an avocado eaten with protein would be too much on your digestive system. Instead eat them with greens, or non-starching vegetables. For a deeper understanding of proper food combining, be sure to check out my very first book, The Beauty Detox Solution. In this book I go into great detail about all food pairings that are crucial to amazing digestion.
One of the most wonderful foods for your diet is avocado. It’s fats are useful for lubricating the digestive system and for rejuvenating the skin’s moisture. Plus it has around ten grams of both soluble and insoluble fiber. The combination of good fat and fiber helps control blood sugar levels. And when our levels are stable our energy is as well!
Mangos: Rich With Nutrients
If you have been following my recipes Beauties you’ve certainly seen me write about all the amazing benefits that mangos provide. So it should come to no surprised to you why I added it into this Tropical Watercress Citrus Salad recipe. Not only do mangos’ sweet and luscious flavor contain an abundance of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. They also provide you with optimum health and beauty! Just one cup of mangos contains over 100% of your daily vitamin C needs. It also gives you 35% of your vitamin A!
These powerful antioxidants have the power to neutralize free radicals throughout the body, which will help to fight against premature aging. Another way to help give your skin all the extra love and attention it deserves is to slather it with the top-notch skincare products. Have you seen our newest Feel Good Skincare System?
